My Teaching Philosophy
My Teaching Philosophy
According to me, a teacher should be one of the comfort zones that
a child can have in his or her life. Because in order to make the
teaching-learning process a successful one the students should have a space to
freely express themselves as they are and that is when a teacher can answer the
needs of the students. It is more like how a well-skilled doctor diagnoses the
illnesses of his patients. If the patient cooperates accordingly only the
doctor will be able to do the treatments to cure the illness. Likewise, a
well-trained teacher would be able to successfully diagnose the needs and the
lack of language skills that the students have, if only the students are able
to truly showcase themselves. And then the teacher will eventually find ways to
overcome their language difficulties.
I honestly do not believe that teachers should
maintain so-called traditional authoritative roles in their ways of shaping
students. What actually succeeds according to my experience is that if a child
cannot learn the way we teach, then that is not at all an issue with the child,
the teacher should be smart enough to research the ways that are the most
suitable for each student. In that way, we will be able to find the perfect
mechanism to teach in ways that the students learn. Moreover, the teacher
should not isolate his or her practice from the theoretical knowledge. It is a
matter of finding the best recipe to address the students' needs by
successfully blending all the factors that affect the teaching-learning
process.
My way of teaching is more of a student-centered learning approach
and I’m always looking forward to explore new and creative methods and
strategies to incorporate with my teaching. When I teach I most of the times
incorporate discussion sessions, differentiated instructions, real world
applications, cooperative and fun learning strategies to provide students with
necessary skills to not only promote their language skills but also to improve
their soft skills such as creativity and critical thinking. I incorporate interactive
activities, technology and attention-grabbing and creative lesson materials to
enrich the learning experience of the student in the classroom. My teaching
style as a teacher is rather dynamic than fixed because I believe that the
career itself as a teacher is a dynamic phenomenon that cannot be fixed but
should be altered according to the needs, interests, weaknesses, strengths and different
learning phases of the students. Furthermore, I identify myself as a very
enthusiastic, energetic mentor in the classroom setting up an example that
stimulate the students to be excited and energetic enough to actively and happily
participate in language learning. Because as how I believe an enthusiastic
teacher prompts the students to feel like there is sparkle and magic all around
learning in ways that they have never experienced before.
My ultimate goal is to leave the students with a positive
impression of education and to feel that they had a unique, effective and enjoyable
learning experience when it comes to ESL learning to which most of the students
lack the enthusiasm and positive impressions.
